West Bromwich Building Society launches mobile app with Unisys
West Bromwich Building Society (West Brom) has picked Unisys and its Elevate banking platform to launch a mobile banking app.
The deal includes the development of a new app, secure self-service, and secure access via biometrics and two-factor authentication.
Jonathan Westhoff, CEO at West Brom, calls the deal a “significant project” for his firm.
“These new innovations provide the foundation to achieve our objectives of serving our members to the best of our ability.”
West Brom is the UK’s seventh largest building society with 36 branches and around 430,000 members. Unisys says mobile banking will be introduced to West Brom’s members “for the first time”.
In 2018 FinTech Futures reported the building society was on the hunt for new technology. It is a longstanding user of Unisys’ UFSS core system.
It uses Phoebus for mortgages, DPR for the digital front-end, and Newcastle Building Society Solutions for online banking, it is understood.
For its treasury operations, it is on the FIS’s Ambit Treasury Management user list.
Unisys calls Elevate a “dedicated, flexible financial services platform for institutions of all sizes”. It says the platform is a collaborative creation between Elevate and Sandstone Technology.
FinTech Futures understands the platform is a white-labelled digital banking service from Sandstone designed to integrate with the Unisys core system UFSS.
