DTCC hires new chief security officer, Nashira Spencer
The Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC), which provides post-trade market infrastructure for financial services, has named Nashira Spencer as its new chief security officer.
In her new role, Spencer will be tasked with managing DTCC’s enterprise-wide global information security, physical security, employee safety, and crisis/incident management functions. She will report directly to DTCC group chief risk officer Tim Cuddihy.
Spencer brings with her over two decades of experience, having most recently served as chief technology officer (CTO) at Anywhere Real Estate (formerly Realogy).
Prior to that, Spencer served as executive director of privacy and information security at Time Warner and also held security-related roles at financial institutions including Prudential Financial, Citigroup, and Bloomberg LP.
Commenting on Spencer’s appointment, Cuddihy says her experience “as both a security leader and technologist” will enable her to “safeguard DTCC and help promote the safety and stability of the financial markets”.
Established over 45 years ago, DTCC operates from 21 locations across the world through a number of subsidiaries. In 2021, DTCC claims its subsidiaries processed securities transactions valued at nearly $2.4 quadrillion in total.
