AIB looks to modernise digital banking tech
Banking Technology understands a number of vendors have done their demos for the bank, Infosys with its Finacle digital banking platform among them.
No comment was available from Infosys. The vendor is currently working with US-based Eastern Bank and Goldman Sachs on their channels modernisation projects, with both banks implementing e-Finacle.
Last year, Infosys became a strategic partner of the AIB group – to provide the group with application development and management as well as transformation and innovation services.
The vendor set up a facility in Dublin, with some of the AIB staff transferred to it.
One of AIB’s other key technology partner is Accenture, which has been advising the bank on strategy and transformation for many years.
In terms of systems, the bank still uses legacy core banking software for its retail business, following a high-profile failure and a subsequent legal dispute in 2011 when it sought to replace the legacy core with Oracle FSS’s Flexcube. For its corporate banking ops, AIB is a long-standing Flexcube user.
It has also recently embarked on a payments modernisation venture – with Dovetail as new tech supplier. On the way out is the Global PayPlus (GPP) legacy platform from D+H Corporation’s payments unit, Global Transaction Banking Solution (GTBS, formerly Fundtech).
