UK payments platform Thredd appoints Edwin Poot as new global CTO
Thredd has appointed Edwin Poot as its new global chief technology officer (CTO) as it seeks to further its product development and global expansion.
The UK-based paytech asserts that Poot will be responsible for delivering its payment offerings and bringing its “geographic expansion plans to life”.
The new global CTO’s remit will contain every facet of Thredd’s technological strategy, including compliance, innovation and infrastructure, security and platform development.
Poot has previously served as VP of product for Nubank, strategic advisor for Paxos, and most recently, as chief product and technology officer for the online consumer marketplace, Dayrize.
The industry veteran joins the paytech’s C-suite alongside several new executives who arrived last year – including chief product officer, Ava Kelly, and chief executive officer, Jim McCarthy.
Commenting on the appointment, McCarthy explains that Poot’s “hands-on experience driving dynamic technological scaling and expansion within the global financial services ecosystem positions us well to achieve our strategic goals for 2024 and beyond”.
The news of Poot’s arrival comes hot on the heels of the paytech’s recently-announced partnership with Malaysian fintech BigPay, which is seeking to power its payment processing functionalities across Southeast Asia.
