Valley National Bank bolsters leadership team with new CFO and president of commercial banking
Valley National Bancorp has named Travis Lan as senior executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) of its US-based subsidiary, Valley National Bank, while Gino Martocci takes on the role of senior executive vice president and president of commercial banking.

New C-suite additions at US-based Valley National Bank
Lan first joined the bank, which manages over $62 billion in assets, as EVP and deputy CFO in 2020. In this position, it’s said that he “contributed to the bank’s strategic growth and recent balance sheet transformation”, according to a statement on his promotion.
Succeeding Mike Hagedorn, the finance chief will now take charge of “key finance and capital markets areas”, including “all aspects of financial reporting, accounting, taxation, corporate treasury, balance sheet management, and investor relations”.
Lan previously worked at the investment banking department of Keefe, Bruyette and Woods where, as department director, he specialised in mergers and acquisitions, and capital advisory for community and regional banks.
Meanwhile, banking veteran Martocci is set to lead Valley’s enterprise-wide commercial banking operations, taking over from Joe Chillura, who is due to depart the bank on 30 June 2025.
His new remit will include “client relationship management, talent identification…and the execution of strategic initiatives aimed at expanding Valley’s market presence”.
Martocci moves directly from M&T Bank in New York, where he has worked for over two decades, most recently as head of commercial and commercial real estate banking.
Aside from commercial banking, Valley also operates retail and business banking divisions, as well as providing wealth management services. Founded in 1927, the bank employs more than 3,800 people, and is headquartered in Morristown, New Jersey.
