In a statement, the company says the new technology chief will work to “build out product and engineering teams”, including product development, design, engineering and AI, “over the next 12 to 18 months”.
The platform supports Savvy’s proprietary investment management solution for automated tax-loss harvesting, rebalancing and asset allocation, as well as AI-powered tools for relationship management, onboarding and marketing.
Founded in 2021, Savvy previously set out to bolster its rate of product innovation by securing $15.5 million in a Series A-2 funding round led by Canvas Ventures last August, before going on to name David Weiner as chief growth officer in February.
Hurkman joins Savvy’s growing C-suite directly from Carta, an equity management technology firm based in San Francisco, where he first served as CTO between 2014 and 2018, and more recently, as VP of engineering for the last four years.
His industry experience also includes CTO positions at financial services platform Say Technologies, which was acquired by Robinhood in 2021, and DrChrono, an electronic health records platform for doctors.
