Roque takes over from Sue Britton, who has acted as chief innovation officer since the credit union launched through the merger of Gulf & Fraser and Interior Savings in January last year.
Beem Credit Union now serves over 193,000 members across 66 locations in British Columbia, offering personal and business banking as well as investment and wealth management services.
Britton, with over 30 years of experience in the financial sector, announced her decision to step down on LinkedIn last week, stating: “It’s time for me to take some time and slow down and retire.” Her career has spanned senior roles at Finastra, Broadridge and Pareto.
Roque joins from Canadian paytech firm Interac, where he has held numerous leadership positions such as VP of transformation and head of product for Interac Verified. His background also includes stints at Microsoft, Giesecke & Devrient, and BMO, as well as chairing Seneca Polytechnic’s fintech programme advisory committee for the past five years.
