Launched in 2020, Wayflyer provides non-dilutive funding to help e-commerce businesses scale, and claims to have deployed over $4.5 billion in working capital to “thousands of consumer brands globally”.
The company hit unicorn status following its Series B in 2022 and secured a $1 billion financing deal with investment management firm Neuberger Berman the following year.
Tuson Palau, who will lead Wayflyer’s distributed technology team remotely from Spain, is expected to guide the firm through its “next phase of growth”, focusing on profitability as the company expands beyond its core e-commerce sector to serve wholesale businesses.
The incoming CTO joins Wayflyer from Austrian investment platform Bitpanda, where he acted as chief product and technology officer (CPTO) for over a year, overseeing a team of 250.
Furthermore, Tuson Palau brings over 20 years of experience serving in senior engineering and product roles at the likes of Canonical, Bitnami, and Ebury, as well as co-founding sustainability start-up Greengame.
