Johnson has worked for the group, headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, for over 11 years, and also serves as a member of the bank’s executive committee.
As chief experience officer since 2020, she is credited with overseeing a portfolio comprising customer experience and digital design, data and analytics, marketing and communications, enterprise payments strategy, and the bank’s sustainability and impact programmes.
Bruce Van Saun, chairman and CEO of Citizens Financial Group, states that Johnson’s “decision to retire from the bank to focus on other endeavours comes at a time when her portfolio has been taken to the next level and is performing exceptionally well”.
Adding: “We’ve carefully planned a smooth transition to move the Enterprise Experience functions to other senior leaders at Citizens.”
In 2023, the bank tapped North Carolina-based paytech Paymentus for its suite of electronic bill payment and money movement services.
At the time, Johnson explained the partnership was essential to meet evolving customer expectations, particularly the need for “integrating real time payment” capabilities.
