SAMA signs agreement to bring Google Pay to KSA in 2025
The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has entered into an agreement with Google to bring its mobile payment service, Google Pay, to Saudi Arabia through the national payments network mada.

In a statement, the central bank claims the integration will offer an “advanced and safe way for users to make secure purchases in stores, in apps, and on the web”, while also providing users with options to add and oversee their cards within Google Wallet.
The initiative, which is set to launch “during 2025”, is part of SAMA’s efforts to expand its offerings of digital payment solutions, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and international standards.
Moreover, SAMA says the partnership reflects its ambition to establish a “robust digital payments infrastructure” which helps the country’s “transformation into a less-cash dependent society”.
The news follows SAMA’s ongoing progress with its digital financial agenda, which includes sanctioning the beta launch of STC Bank, issuing an e-wallet licence to start-up Barq last year, and the eSAMA portal launching a trail phase earlier this month.
