CaixaBank extends IBM partnership to underpin new CloudNow service
CaixaBank has signed an extended partnership agreement with IBM to underpin its new CloudNow project.
The Spanish bank is aiming to improve its core applications, improve efficiencies, and “reinforce its innovative vision” with increased resiliency.
Part of the launch of this new hybrid cloud platform is membership of the IBM Cloud Multizone Region (MZR) in Spain.
MZRs are composed of three or more data centres with each operating individually in the case of an outage.
IBM Cloud says this arrangement results in consistent cloud services and increased protection from downtime.
“IBM has become an indispensable partner in the development of CaixaBank’s digital capabilities,” says Gonzalo Gortazar, CEO of CaixaBank.
“This collaboration has helped us to combine our current technological infrastructures with an updated environment boosted by cloud technology and artificial intelligence.
“The new MZR is a key milestone to keep offering our 21 million customers the best user experience.”
CaixaBank and IBM are long-time partners, having initially signed their first deal in the 1970s.
“IBM’s hybrid cloud and AI solutions will help CaixaBank strengthen its business model and improve its customer experience,” says IBM CEO, Arvind Krishna.
