HSBC boosting cloud capabilities with Google
This is part of the bank’s “Cloud First Strategy”, which involves the partial phased migration of data and services to cloud platforms.
Darryl West, group chief information officer at HSBC, says: “Access to Google Cloud technology will help us to offer our customers the banking services they want and expect, to safeguard their data and their finances, and to run our business more efficiently.”
Through this move, HSBC will be able to use Google’s big data, analytics and machine learning capabilities. The bank hopes to innovate more quickly, turn data into insight and make its customer experience more personal and relevant, and bring an added edge against financial crime.
HSBC will also be able to build flexible environments for building and deploying software, as well as scale the bank’s systems on-demand, providing more flexible data storage and analytical capacity.
As a quick reminder, HSBC is very committed to a large investment in tech throughout the next few years.
